We Mix Your Song is a collaboration between experienced professional sound engineers with a love for music. We are passionate about enhancing the very thing that makes your song magical.

Our mission is to make your song sound as good as it can by enhancing the story and feeling while meeting the loudness standards of today. The “loudness war” is over, let’s keep the dynamics and make people feel the music!

Pelle Johansson

Pelle, the founder of LBJ Studio (est 2002), has almost 20 years of experience as a live/studio sound engineer. He works with production, mix and mastering but also audio repair and sound design. As a multi instrumentalist he understands the sound, roles and relationships between different instruments. Using his love for music and tech, he will help your song to go from raw material to a professional sounding song with depth and enhanced feeling while still keeping the dynamics.

How a song is made

The process

Production

When a song comes to life it goes through different stages. We can help you all the way from an idea to a mastered master piece.

It is important to start off with a good arrangement (the “kill your darlings-stage”). This makes both editing and mixing a lot easier.

The perfect mix can never make up for a messy arrangement.

Editing

After a song is recorded there are a lot of different takes. Choosing the right parts (comping) is important. Often it is the part with feeling and communication that wins over the “perfect” take. 

After choosing all parts it is time to edit them together. Time to make sure there are no click and pops. To take care of all breathing and sss sounds. 

Mixing

The mix of a song is one of the most important parts of a music production. This is where it all comes alive as a song. The sound of a song is important, but in the mixing stage you can do so much more!

This is where you enhance the feeling of the music and where you make sure the story of the text is heard to make it all communicate together as one piece.

Mastering

When the mix is done it is time for some polish to make it really shine. To make sure the song meets all the streaming services recommendations regarding loudness. Maybe make sure multiple songs fits together as a whole.

We think it is important to still have some dynamic range in a song. It is the dynamic range that makes you want to dance (or nod your head if you are a musician).
